Over 250 goats and around 72 chickens have reportedly been slaughtered during a Hindu ritual in Pandatharippu in Jaffna over the weekend. The goats had been slaughtered as part of a ceremony held at a Hindu Temple in the area. The religious ritual has been attended by hundreds of devotees.

The value of treasury bills issued by the government weekly to get credit has been increased to Rs.15000 million. Earlier, Rs.10,000 million was the amount taken as credit through treasury bills.
