Some of the curries cooked in the Sri Lankan parliament restaurant contain arsenic residue, speaker Chamal Rajapaksa told the House yesterday (Nov. 17).
He was responding to a question raised by UNP’s Ravi Karunanayake about an unnatural red colour in a Kohila curry at the restaurant.
The speaker said those curries had been discarded, and that an investigation was underway.
He added that an order was given to the parliament restaurant cooks to check vegetables, meat, spices etc. before cooking as well.
