Here is the full statement:

British Tamils Forum, vehemently condemns the unlawful killing of Mr. Nimalaruban, a political remand prisoner without any trial at the Vavuniya prison in Northern Sri Lanka yesterday .BTF understands that he and other prisoners were severely assaulted and beaten with iron rods by the Sri Lankan Special Task force commandos under instruction from the defence secretary and war crime accused Mr.Gothabaya Rajapakse .As highlighted previously in numerous occasions, Sri Lankan political and military leadership continues to violate the basic human rights of the Tamil people in Sri Lanka with total impunity.

Even after the recent UNHRC resolution and the assurances given by the Sri Lankan delegations in the past, the real ground situation has not changed. Unless the international community takes a strong stand and isolates Sri Lanka from international forums, there would not be any change in the human rights situation on the ground.

BTF calls upon the British government to immediately condemn this unlawful custodial killing and initiate diplomatic moves to expel Sri Lanka from the commonwealth and take up this unlawful killing at the forth coming Sri Lanka specific Human rights review session in Geneva.
