BTF condemns the killing of Tamil Activist

British Tamils Forum strongly condemns the killing of Nadarajah Mathinthiran alias “Parithi” a Tamil National Activist in Paris, France.

The assassination has come at a time when World Tamils are converging in a unified path towards Tamil National Freedom.

We call upon the civilised world to take firm and decisive steps to investigate politically motivated killings in the western capitals. These acts pose a serious threat to the fundamental ideals of the western society.

This was not the first time such an incident has occurred in France; there were two previous assassinations connected to Tamil National Politics in Paris. Mr Mathinthiran too had narrowly escaped death, from an attack with swords on the Halloween day in 2011. The French authorities have failed to investigate these crimes seriously and to date, no one has been apprehended.

French authorities should take this matter very seriously and conduct thorough investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.  While it is early days to speculate, the modus operandi of the killers is very much in line with the death squads of the Sri Lankan security apparatus which kills political and journalistic opponents in broad daylight, with impunity.

It is therefore absolutely essential that the investigations are conducted thoroughly to apprehend the killers and to identify the forces behind these killings.

Nadarajah Mathinthiran, is survived by his wife and a daughter.  British Tamils Forum joins the people he had served at large, in extending our condolences and sympathies to his family and friends.

It is in his pursuit for freedom of our people and land that Mathinthiran gave his life.

British Tamils Forum appeals to the Tamil people, not to be intimidated by these events, but remain steadfast in their resolve to continue their struggle for freedom.
