China’s defence minister GeneralLiang Guanglie arrived in Sri Lanka Wednesday morning (Aug. 29) on a five-day official visit. He was welcomed on arrival at the airport by the Sri Lankan top defence officials, led by chief of defence staff Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetillake and commanders of the armed forces. Gen. Guanglie, who is leading a 23 member delegation, is expected to meet Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa, the minister of external affairs and the secretary of defence. He will also visit the Defence Services Command and Staff College at Sapugaskanda, Defence Services College, Panagoda Army Cantonment and a few other places. The visit is in response to an invitation, extended by the Army in June this year during a visit to China by Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.]]>
