According to Indian media the Tamil Eelam Supporters Organization (TESO) has called for a general strike in Tamil Nadu on 12th March to pressurize the Indian government to support the resolution to be moved by the U.S. against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC in Geneva against alleged human rights violations in the last phase of the war.
It is reported that a meeting chaired by DMK president M. Karunanidhi adopted a resolution for the dawn-to-dusk (6 am to 6 pm) general strike and called upon the public, traders, workers, students, supporters of Tamil cause and government employees to support it.
Karunanidhi had expressed the hope that the resolution against Sri Lanka would certainly get through in the UNHRC amd India should extend its cooperation. He had said TESO was meeting ambassadors and high commissioners of various countries in Delhi to seek their support for the resolution.
Earlier on Monday, TESO had organized a protest demonstration against Sri Lanka and its leaders says the report.
