SLMC leader Rauff Hakeem will support the UPFA to form an administration in the eastern provincial council, said political sources. However, the Muslim party’s general secretary Hassan Ali has said that the party high command would take a decision. He said the SLMC, which won seven seats at yesterday’s polls, would either join forces with the UPFA or function independently at the EPC. Meanwhile, the general secretary and several other party seniors are to propose to the high command to conduct a disciplinary inquiry against the party leader. A SLMC senior said there were provisions in the party constitution to initiate such an inquiry, over allegations that the party leader had disregarded to pursue action against acts of threats and attacks on them by the government during the election.]]>
