India has not yet formulated its stand over the US-backed resolution against Sri Lanka in the United Nations as it does not know what kind of resolution that country would be moving before the body, Indian minister V. Narayanasamy said today.
However he said India is closely watching the situation and would take a suitable decision when the issue comes up before the body.
“India has not decided on its stand as it does not know what kind of resolution US is expected to move against Sri Lanka in UNHRC. As far as our government is concerned, the Prime Minister is watching the situation and at that time (when the issue comes), a decision will be taken,” the Press Trust of India quoted him as saying.
His remarks come in the backdrop of demands by political parties in Tamil Nadu that the Centre support the resolution.
