An internal conflict has raised regarding the registration of Tamil National Alliance (TNA), reports say.
However, commenting on the situation TNA MP M. Sumanthiran stated that a registration of the party is problematic due to a legal condition.
According to the prevailing constitution the parties must be registered in January. There are no constitutional provisions for the Election Commissioner to register parties during other months of the year, he said. One of the major parties of TNA Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi aka Federal party lead by R. Sampanthan has objected the registration, reports say.
However, the other allies including Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO), Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF), People’s Liberation Organization for Tamil Ealam (PLOTE) and Tamil United Liberation Front( TULF) have agreed to register the party excluding Federal party.
The leader of TELO is MP Selvam Adaikalanathan, while former MP Suresh Premachandran of EPRLF, former MP Dharmalingam Siddharthan of PLOTE and former MP Anandsangaree of TULF hold the leadership of respective parties.
Senior politician of TELO M.K Siwajilingam stated a special discussion will be held between the party leaders under the guidance Bishop of Mannar, Most Rev. Dr. Rayappu Joseph on May 12th to discuss the conflicting situation in TNA.
