The Sri Lankan Navy’s largest passenger craft ‘Jetliner’ which played a pivotal role during the military operations in Vanni, transporting troops between the North and East, set sail to its owning company in Indonesia yesterday, as the charter period is over.

The LTTE, on Aug 1, 2006, launched a assault on SLA bases in Trincomalee causing concern among military top brass.  But, its main target was the SLN’s largest troop career ‘Jetliner’ carrying  several hundred officers and men to the Trincomalee harbour.
