The Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa is not not expected to attend the U.N General Assembly next week despite being listed in the provisional list of speakers, reports said today

An Asian website said that Sri Lankan External Affairs Minister G.L.Pieris will be leading the Sri Lankan delegation to the 67th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The General Assembly will convene a high-level meeting on the rule of law at the national and international levels next week during which heads of governments or representatives will speak.

Rajapaksa was listed to speak on the 24th, but now based on the report it is most likely that Minister G.L.Pieris will speak on his behalf.
