A scheduled visit to Sri Lanka by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has been postponed, the Sri Lankan External Affairs Ministry’s Public Communications Director General Sarath Dissanayaka said. Ms. Khar was to arrive in Sri Lanka on August 1 on a three-day visit on an invitation extended by External Affairs Minister.

Earlier the Pakistan High Commission in a statement said the visit was aimed at enhancing bilateral ties between the people of the two countries which date back to the days of the Buddhist civilisation and have been marked by a shared interest in regional peace and stability.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 1948, the two countries have consistently maintained close, cordial and a mutually supportive relationship, the statement said.
