Turnouts at the elections for north central, eastern and Sabaragamuwa provinces have been low, according to the Elections Secretariat. By 11.00 am, in Trincomalee, a turnout of between eight and 10 pc has been reported while the figures for Ampara and Batticaloa were between 12 and 15 pc and 20 and 25 pc respectively. Only between 20 and 25 per cent voted in Anuradhapura, followed by between 15 and 20 pc in Polonnaruwa. In Sabaragamuwa, between 20 and 25 pc voting has taken place and in Kegalle, it stood at between 22 and 25 pc.
