Political instability in Lanka – MI officials to monitor MPs activities

General Secretary of Sri Lanka’s major opposition United National Party (UNP) Tissa Attanayake said yesterday the party had information that a warrant has been obtained to search the house of the UNP media unit chief Mangala Samaraweera.

He said that the warrant has been sought to search the house to arrest a certain person claimed to be hiding in the Sri Lankan former Foreign Minister’s house.

The UNP General Secretary further said that the actions of the government were to suppress the opposition. He also said that the dictatorial state that is in the formation has deployed military intelligence officials to monitor the political activities of the opposition MPs.
