udayan_410pxThe Tamil daily publication – Uthayan has evoked racism in its editorial on May 9th, the pro-government publication – Dinamina reports.

In a special report today (14), the Dinamina criticizes the editorial, which questioned whether Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) will benefit Sri Lanka.

The Dinamina also charges that the Uthayan has done a negative portrayal of the CHOGM under three themes which are issues regarding human rights, accountability and reconciliation, non- participation of the Queen and government manipulation of the Commonwealth chairmanship to gain political advantage.

Thus the pro-government media is making an effort to create public opinion against the ‘Uthayan’ newspaper in order to justify any future attack against it.

Uthayan newspaper has already faced several attacks.

Under the prevailing backdrop, the Dinamina report against the ‘Uthayan’ newspaper can be considered a ‘warning’.

‘Dinmina’ report condemns the ‘Uthayan’ editorial stating that it incites racism and it has criticized the CHOGM under three themes which are issues regarding human rights, accountability and reconciliation, non- participation of the Queen and government manipulation of the Commonwealth chairmanship to gain political advantage.
