The people have won a reprieve from Indian government’s repression at Kudankulam. Those arrested during the protests have also been released, Ms Karuna Raina, Nuclear campaigner said. Though the protesters have ended their fast for now, the agitation against the nuclear power plant is not over. Their list of demands includes, getting the state government to ask the central government to make public the reports of the safety of this plant, and an independent review of the proposed nuclear site and surrounding areas, among others. Over 12,000 of you signed a letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha, asking her to treat the protesters humanely. After a week, her government relented, and has now agreed to look into the other demands being made by the people.
