Sinhala mob attacked a Tamil National Alliance (TNA) meeting in Killinochchi yesterday, TNA MP E. Sarawanabavan said.
The MP said that over 50 people with stones and poles in their hands attacked the premises while several leading TNA MPs were present.
He said that TNA MPs S. Sridaran, M.A. Sumanthiran and Mavai Senathirajah were among those present at the time of the attack.
The mob initially staged a demonstration outside the premises but later attempted to force their way in.
Stones were thrown towards the building damaging property and injuring at least 13 people.
“The Sinhala mob came with the lion flag in their hand. The building we were in was damaged a lot. Two people were arrested and later freed,” he said.
Sarawanabavan said that the attack took place despite a police presence in the area.
