Former Norwegian peace envoy to Sri Lanka Erik Solheim says he is still having a close eye on Sri Lanka despite the end of his mediator role several years ago.
Speaking to the Colombo media, Solheim said that he had also met the Tamil Diaspora during his recent trip to Australia.
“I am following events in Sri Lanka closely. Reading news. Meeting people,” Solheim said.
A former Minister of Environment and International Development in Norway, Solheim is now the Chair of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC).
Last month Solheim had said that Tamil parties had told him there was a need for international observers to monitor the northern provincial council elections scheduled for November.
