The Sri Lankan budget deficit for 2013 has been estimated at Rs. 1,240 billion, said cabinet spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella yesterday (Sept. 27).

He said the Sri Lankan cabinet has approved the appropriation bill for next financial year.

Total government expenditure for 2013 is expected at Rs. 2,520 billion, while total projected income is Rs. 1,280 billion.

The spokesman said the economic growth and the rate of inflation for the year have both been estimated at seven per cent each.

The first reading of the appropriation bill will take place on October 09, and the second reading on November 08.
