Members of Naam Tamizhar burnt the effigy of the Sri Lanka President on Thursday in Vellore when they protested the visit of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to India, on February 8.

The members burnt the effigy of the Sri Lanka President, who would be visiting Bodh Gaya, in Bihar, and Tirupathi, in Andhra Pradesh, on February 8. They gathered in front of the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam office and raised slogans against Rajapaksa.

Party’s Vellore city coordinator K Siva said similar protest would be held at Otteri on Friday. During the day, the Vellore South police arrested the party members and released them later in the evening.
