Uthayan press set on fire by military


uthaThe Sri Lankan military group has set fire to the Uthayan Newspaper office in Jaffna sources said. The extent of the damage is still not known, while no causalities were reported yet.

Earlier an unidentified group consisting of seven individuals attacked the office of Tamil newspaper “Uthayan” in Killinochchi at around 4.50 this morning on 04 April.

The unidentified group attacked the staff present at the office at the time and had also severely damaged the office.

Two of the injured employees of the newspaper, owned by Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP of the Jaffna District Saravanabavan, were admitted to the KIlinochchi Hospital during the attack on 4 April.
