UNHRC team visits to Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka, which was censured over its human rights record in March, is set to welcome a team of technical experts led by United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay to check on the country’s resettlement programmes. The team would visit north and east Sri Lanka checking on the government’s resettlement programmes and the internally displaced people (IDP) issues, Lankan external affairs ministry officials said. The Sri Lankan government initially showed resistance to the move.]]>
